Kellie Pickler, born June 28, 1986, to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The time she was pregnant, her mother was aged 16. Pickler was a troubled child because of her drug and alcohol dependence, while her mother left her when she was the age of 2. Morton came back to take custody for a couple of years. However, Pickler acknowledged that it was not all well. "I can remember when my mom with me were in the kitchen and I remarked, 'I'd rather God took me off, I'd much rather have my body taken away than to live together with you.' The girl pulled an old kitchen knife and placed it in the middle of the counter. She then said: "Here you go." It was fourth grade. It's a shame that I didn't do something about it. However, it left an emotional mark that will last forever. Pickler at the time, 12 years old, was given her grandparents' custody following the court hearing. Pickler was brought up by her grandparent's all through her lifetime. She credits them with having the greatest influence in her life. The grandmother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January 2002. she was in the care of her grandfather. Pickler was a graduate of the North Stanly High School located which is located in New London, North Carolina.
